After the success of last year's event, the 2009 Southern Light Plein Air Paintout will take place again this May  in downtown Charleston, SC.
The event will begin with the canvas stamping on Wed., May 28 and will end with the reception and silent auction at the Charleston Harbour Club on Sat., May 31 (with a portion of the proceeds to benefit the Charleston County School of the Arts Music Program).   One of the highlights of this Plein Air Paint Out is the honor of having
nationally acclaimed plein air painter Tony Van Hasselt as the juror for the painting exhibition.

This event is open to all artists and would be of interest to any outdoor painter who would enjoy spending a few days painting in beautiful Charleston, SC this May.  The Spoleto Festival is still in full swing during this last week of May, so it's an extra special time to plan a visit to Charleston. For artists that live here, its a great time to be outdoors painting in downtown Charleston with all of the festival excitement in the air.  Artists are invited to bring any available handouts, brochures, postcards etc that advertise their gallery affiliations and/or their personal studio information so that  potential clients will know how to find them and their work after the event.

On another note, Tony Van Hasselt, the juror for the paintout will also be leading a 3 day plein air watercolor workshop on Sullivans Island starting Monday May 26 through Wed May 28.  Just let us know if you would like further info re this workshop.

If you have any questions, or would lke to receive a registration package please contact us - we look forward to hearing from you!
