An LCD or liquid crystal display is a thin electronic display that uses light either from sunlight or light from a room to display images, thus they are called passive displays. Viewable size and viewing angle refers to the active display area and the direction of viewing, respectively while the brightness and contrast ratio affects the amount and intensity of light displayed. Other factors that affect the specification of an LCD module, specifically those that display active images are the refresh rate and response time.
